How to stay sane in an insane world.
Join Ruby at Broughton Sanctuary to take a breath from the spin cycle of life.
The Ruby Way
Drawing on her Masters from Oxford where she trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, alongside her own lived experience, Ruby brings her usual fun, humour, warmth and insight to every session she runs.
Through Ruby’s Workshops and Sessions you’ll delve into -
Why the mind behaves the way it does
Why negative thoughts are so persistent
And why modern life supercharges mental overload
You’ll learn how to stop being driven by your thoughts and instead become the driver – grounded, aware, and in control.
The Venue
Broughton Sanctuary is widely regarded as one of the most progressive wellbeing destinations in the UK – an inspiring fusion of heritage, innovation, and intelligent wellbeing. The ancestral home of the Tempest family since 1097, this remarkable estate blends centuries of history with a bold, forward-thinking vision for modern life and conscious living.
The Avalon
Avalon is Broughton’s state-of-the-art Sanctuary and wellbeing centre, it’s been carefully and architectually designed to enable you to truly unwind. Enjoy a swim in the breathtaking pool, enjoy the whirlpool, the sauna and the steam room.
*Additional treatments are available to be booked for during your stay. Treatments such as massages, chakra realignment, floatation tank and ayervedic therapies are all there for you, should you wish to treat yourself please contact Broughton directly to book in a treatment.
The Foods Delicious & Nutritious
Meals are shared together at Utopia, Broughton’s contemporary walled garden bistro, designed by Sir Michael Hopkins with gardens by Dan Pearson. The food is a highlight of the retreat with seasonal, locally sourced, plant-based, and utterly delicious. Every dish is prepared with care to nourish both body and mind.
The Wild Swimming, Sauna & Ice Bath
From wild swimming and woodland saunas to the simple magic of ancient woodlands and winding rivers, nature is woven into every moment here. You’ll have the opportunity to delve into the lake and share a sauna with Ruby, who is a huge advocate for using hot and cold therapy for her mental health.
The Gardens & Nature
Broughton is home to one of the UK’s leading nature recovery projects, with over 350,000 trees planted in recent years, the wildlife and rewilding work they are doing is something the team at Broughton are quite rightly very proud of. The landscaped gardens are quite spectacular, open skies, and quiet paths create the perfect backdrop for reflection, renewal, and deep restoration.
The Results
In true Ruby Wax style, it’s not about fixing you (you’re not broken), it’s about understanding your mind, softening your nervous system, and giving yourself a fighting chance in a world that rarely pauses.
You’ll leave with
A calmer, steadier mind – not because it will suddenly behave, but because you do. You’ll learn how to notice thoughts and train your mind to create a renewed narrative through Ruby’s mind training talks, workshops and sessions.
Less self-criticism, more self-compassion – understanding why your brain defaults to negativity makes it easier to stop believing every unkind thought it throws at you.
Tools to interrupt overwhelm – practical, science-backed techniques you can actually use when anxiety spikes, your mind races, or life feels too much.
A nervous system that feels safer – time in nature, rest, and mindful awareness help your body relearn and retrain your mind, so you stop you’re usual theme tunes that play in your head.
Clearer thinking – when your mind slows, perspective widens. Decisions feel simpler. Problems shrink to their proper size.
A sense of connection – to yourself, to others, and to something more then the usual spin cycle of your mind.
Step off the spin cycle of life and join Ruby at Broughton Sanctuary.
Leave with a renewed mindset and set of skills that will transform you and your mind.
It’s the coolest place I’ve ever been.
A note from Ruby.
Join me on Retreat at Broughton Sanctuary, a three-night, four day immersive retreat takes place at the UK’s leading luxury retreat centre. Blending brain science, ancient wisdom, and creative self-inquiry, designed to help you rewire your thinking, calm your nervous system, and rediscover a sense of peace and purpose.
We know that when we feel connected to our bodies and minds, it’s as if we’ve found home. I will offer workshops and tools to help you stop negative thinking patterns and teach you to understand that who we are is enough. If we can create a calmer environment inside us, it affects everyone around us. We humans work like neural WiFi - if we change ourselves, we change the world.
